My students come from diverse backgrounds however a majority of my students come from working class families. My students have varied academic levels. Unfortunately, many of my students, by the time they get to 6th grade, have learned to hate math. I work my best to get students to see the exciting ways in which they see math in their every day lives. I encourage students to be creative in their thinking about mathematics. My philosophy, and the philosophy of my school is that children deserve the chance to be equipped with the academic tools they need to be successful members of our global society.
