My students will gain an appreciation for different cultures. They will explore their talents, strengths, and inner qualities while also admiring the unique characteristics of people of a different culture. The bilingual and uplifting books will be read to the students as they gather on the carpet and then it will be placed in the library area where they can revisit the stories and read for themselves. Students will have a chance to also explore books in the math area and draw connections with other content areas. This gives students a chance to indulge in cross-curricula experiences, and see reading as a part of the real world. Students will have positive experiences about themselves as they see characters who resemble them or speak their language. It will provide opportunities to explore the world from a new lens and to grasp the concept of diversity.
