My school is a Title 1, public, elementary school in Durham, North Carolina. Many of my students live at the poverty level. Most of my students are bilingual, speaking English only at school. I also have some students with special needs. Many of my students families live in poverty and struggle to provide the basics for their children. I even have families that are homeless during the school year. Our parents are very proud and willing to help their children succeed in any way they can. For some of my students, our school is a safe place to not only learn, but also to eat, be warm and most of all get that extra TLC all children need from adults that they know love and care about them. I also encourage my students that no matter what, they WILL SUCCEED...Every Child, Every Day!
