Giving my students materials for pretend play allows them to expand their thinking about the world they live in. Learning at the preschool level is all about play and expanding on what students already experience outside of school. Dollhouse supplies, kitchen materials, and dress up clothes let the students interact with things they see everyday used by adults. Now they get a chance to use them. Being an adult seems like a lot of fun when you are a kid. These materials also allow students opportunities to engage with each other. Homes are comprised of many people serving different roles. When students pretend they get to interact with each other and explore the roles family members serve in the household.

About my class
