Our room is very active, but it could be even better if we could replace our chairs with stability balls! I work in a school where almost 99% of the students live in poverty. A lot of them aren't able to go outside and play when they get home because it isn't safe; or they live in a community where there is no room to go outside and play. Many of my students aren't able to play recreational sports such as football, soccer, basketball, etc. because their parents cannot afford to pay for them to play or provide transportation to get them to their games. So when are these children burning off their energy? Even though we do many interactive activities, I have a couple students that ask to stand periodically because they are simply tired of sitting in the chair. I also have a few students that struggle to focus when they are forced to sit still.Stability balls would allow them to release their jitters while maintaining focus and control of their learning.
