I will be teaching second graders in 2014-15. My students will be a diverse group of boys and girls, different cultures, different economical groups and different levels of parental involvement and support. My school is in a mountainous area and our current focus is, of course, on common core, but also on health and fitness. My goal is to help my students feel and be, included, safe and successful. I believe if my students have an opportunity to be organized and have access to the basic tools that they need in the classroom, they will feel safe and included, thus successful. I have had the advantage of teaching a wide range of students throughout the year, (various ages, learning styles, backgrounds, ethnicity and economic status); this helps me to be in-tune to the students needs, understanding where they have come from and where they will be going...emotionally and academically!
