We are a Title I middle school in the heart of the International District. All of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Most of our school population are English language learners. The students in my class are hard working, bright and unfortunately without many opportunities. Providing them a wide and varied classroom library will expose them to the outside world and give them the best chance to succeed in school. Immersing them in books of their choice, allowing them to read what they want and discuss and write about their choice not only creates an excellent learning environment but empowers these middle school students to guide their own learning and advocate for themselves.
