I've recently started using a digital portfolio for my students. This allowed me to document the things that can not be recorded on paper such as gains in social development or pencil grasp, reading aloud, or acting out stories. The problem was that, as a center based classroom, I could not capture as much as I would have liked having only one iPad. Having an iPad at each center would allow for my students to document their own accomplishments with the teachers approval of course. This would give the students motivation to complete tasks carefully and thoroughly as well as allow them to conduct digital research to assist with the center. These portfolios also can be connected directly with parents so they can access their child's progress.
