I teach in a Title 1 elementary school with a very diverse student population. My classroom population includes many students that qualify for free or reduced lunch, low income housing, and very limited English speaking students. My students have many challenges and responsibilities outside of school that interfere with reinforcing what we do at school once they get home. It is crucial that we make every moment they are at school productive, encouraging, and exciting. When my students are successful on the new Common Core assessments they are extremely proud of their accomplishments. We take some time each day to celebrate their successes.
