COVID-19 has increased the social and emotional and mental health needs of my at-risk students. These social and emotional learning tools will help my at-risk students have more success at school. By being able to use noise cancelling headphones, wiggle seats, weighted lap pads as well as fidgets in the classroom, my students will have more success paying attention. listening to their teachers, and completing their classwork. In my office, I love to use Bibliotherapy to start discussions about hard topics, mental health needs, and to deal with traumas these students may be experiencing at home. These books will assist me in working with these at-risk students to address their various needs. By addressing these social and emotional and mental health needs, helping these kids feel safe at school, and helping these kids feel cared about, these students will hopefully be more able to focus on academics when in the classroom and have more success at school.
