As an ESL teacher, my students come from all around the world! They bring many inter-cultural experiences, backgrounds, and languages. Some of them come to the United States under good conditions such as joining other family members. Others are fleeing war torn countries and or countries that have experienced natural disasters. Two students from Haiti witnessed the earthquake and were not able to attend school. They moved to the states and have been thriving! Another student came from China, where he went blind due to lack of medical treatment. He was not able to attend school in China because they would not accommodate his visual impairment. Now his talents are finally being recognized as he continues to excel at Wethersfield High School. My students are hardworking, motivated, and come from hard working families. Most of my students do not have the luxuries afforded to their peers. They continue to inspire me every day!
