The students in my classroom are a joy to teach every day. I feel extremely fortunate to be even a small part of their success. The students all have Autism and therefore need extra support in order to reach their academic goals. The students love coming to school and enjoy interacting with their peers, teachers, and learning new things daily. Through the CABS program many of these students have gained the skills needed to communicate their thoughts effectively to their teachers and peers as well as access their grade level curriculum with academic support. Most students also have sensory needs that are met through the program such as providing sensory processing support through noise buffering head phones or safe places to allow for quiet time when the normal school day is over stimulating. The students are accepted, loved, and genuinely cared for at their school; there is an air of understanding and acceptance that is a joy to work in.
