With schools closing suddenly in Virginia on March 13th of this year, schools and teachers were not equipped with the technology and resources to best support students. Teachers struggled to find what they could use between home computers and phones since our school computers don't have cameras and are very old. With outdated technology, I struggled with live Google Meets and videos to keep my students learning and engaged as best as I wanted. In 1st grade students really need hands on learning, live meetings with teachers, and videos for virtual instruction to work. With a new Macbook I will be be certain to have technology that can keep up with all of my students needs. This computer will let me display digital manipulatives for math, quality videos for all subjects, and a virtual whiteboard to work out problems with students and model instruction. This will keep my 6 and 7 year old students engaged and wanting to learn this year!
