Children have individualized needs, especially those who receive special education services. My goal as their teacher is to make sure that not only is their academic content created to meet their needs, but their classroom environment meets each of their individual needs. The materials that will be provided will help create an environment that meets their sensory needs as well as helps minimize redirection and increase attending tasks individually. While I have low numbers, my students have high needs. High need students need more support and smaller group or one-on-one attention. I use centers to work with them as a group or individually. With the tablets, the students will be able to work on their N2Y curriculum individually at their independent center as well use it during their group. My students need a lot of movement and support while completing work. Flexible seating such as the ball chair or wobble chair will provide them with options to best meet their needs. Often I keep the lights off in my classroom to help with the students concentrating. Light covers will support the students by reducing the florescent lighting and create a cool, calming feel which can help them stay calm and focused. The support from you all will help my students tremendously and will help them become more successful inside and outside of the classroom.
