Our PLTW-Biomedical high school students have chosen to better prepare themselves for the global economy, equipping themselves with the skills and tools to become the most innovative and productive in the world. PLTW classes emphasize creativity and innovation, and the result is that my PLTW students become engaged with their learning, discover a passion for STEM fields, and are 10 times more likely than their college-going peers to pursue a STEM-related degree and career. Ours is a rural residential community located 30 miles east of Rochester, New York. Our present school community consists of approximately 660 students in grades 9-12, with a community population around 14,300. More than 50% of our students receive free and/or reduced meals at school
