I work in a melting pot. My students range from first generation immigrants to those who have strong family roots here in America. My school is in a lower socioeconomic area where less then 10% of their parents report as having college education. My school is a small school that lacks the need funds to help it grow. We have had drastic cuts in our budget the past few years and this is why I need your help. When our school lost the funding for its art program I was relocated to the former art room. This has its good and bad aspects. Its good because it is a huge room with a lot of space to learn, however the walls are blank and since we cleaned out the art supplies the bookshelves are empty. I do not have enough textbooks to distribute to the students and lack a lot of reading materials on their level. My school is so strapped for cash that I teach three grade levels and work with both students with and without disabilities.
