The before school Mindfulness & Yoga Program will be held for 30 minutes daily. The purpose of this program is to promote mind-body awareness, self-regulation, and physical fitness. Yoga mats will add an integral part to the program. The mats will allow each child to have their own space to gather their thoughts and prepare for the day. The children will take their mat upon arriving in the morning and locate a place for themselves to begin their morning mindfulness program. Many students are unable to regulate before the day begins. This program will allow all students the opportunity to release energy and become mindful of their actions before the school day begins. This effort will enhance overall wellness, but also decrease discipline issues throughout the day and teach the students life long skills. Skills they will be able to use as they grow and run into obstacles in their own lives. Staff collaboration will include teachers, principals, nurse and occupational therapist
