After 20-plus years of working in community education, I decided I wanted to effect greater change and connect with children in more diverse communities. I applied for Teach for America and I am now entering my 4th year as teacher in my placement school district. I work with children and families in an under-served and under-resourced community. This year I will be leaving first grade and will be starting a new journey as our school's art teacher! I can't wait to help students in Pre-K through 5th grade make connections to their classroom learning, to their community, and to themselves through the process and exploration of visual arts.
