My students have struggles. At a school of over 75% poverty, many of my students come to school not with the excitement of what they are going to do and learn, but more with the worry of when they are going to eat, can they take a nap because they were up so late the night before, who is going to pick them up, or how they are going to get home. From the second they walk in the door, even the simplest of learning has to be fun to get and keep their attention. It is my job to do that and I continue to strive to make the hours they are with me some of the least stressful and most engaging hours of their day.

About my class
