Our student athletes are joyful, charismatic, tenacious, and resilient in spite of the daily challenges they face, coming from low income homes and communities. Many students come from families where they are the first candidate to attend college. For having such a positive attitude, it is a testament to their strong character. Many of our students attended elementary schools where track and field was not offered. This is their first experience participating in a sport of this mandated and rigor. Considering their lack of prior experience and challenges they face, they don't have the same preparation that others in well funded areas have, so we are trying to even the playing field.

About my class
