Students come to class with very diverse backgrounds and abilities. School is hard for them and making it easier and a place that they want to be is my responsibility. All of my students have attention issues and keeping them focused on their activities plays a big part in their learning successes. If they have a hungry tummy or they are not comfortable, they find it hard to concentrate (just as many of us adults do). Providing snacks and special seating will enable my students to focus their attention on the rigorous academics set in front of them. Also, making learning opportunities fun is essential in my classroom to engage my students.
