My students live in a rural, high poverty area. One hundred percent of our students receive free lunches. Our county is one of three out of fifty-five schools that have been taken over by the state board of education because of budget deficits and test scores. In addition, my school has been labeled "high risk" within the county because of our reading and mathematics scores. I share a $50 arts budget with the music teacher. We have no supplies to create artistic expressions other than by crayons and colored pencils. Paper is also scarce.
