My students come from a low income area. Most receive free breakfasts and lunch. As a school, we provide all necessary school supplies for the students because many families are struggling to make ends meet. An overwhelming number of students are raised by relatives because a parent is deceased or in prison. Many do not even know one of their parents. Coming to school is a safe haven for our students and we provide structure and routine in their somewhat chaotic life. Challenger is home to just under 800 students with a dedicated staff that not only act as a teacher but also the adult figure/role model some students do not have otherwise.

About my class
