I work with many students in grades 2nd, 3rd, and 4th that need extra help in reading or math. Our school is in a poverty district and many of our students do not have computers at home. I would like to expose them to the latest technology so that they can have fun learning at the touch of their fingers. I would love for my students to feel successful as they learn to enjoy reading while they work on various projects. My 4th graders get behind in their animal reports because we lack the technology needed. All of my students are expected to read daily and take book quizzes on the two classroom computers for extra rewards/points. They become frustrated as they wait their turn and usually we run out of class time before everyone has had an opportunity to use a computer. We also try to use computers for math as they work their way through flash-card games. My students may lack skills that would help them become better academically, but they never lack in the excitement of learning new things.
