We are 7th grade ELA students! Our Title 1 school in NYC is comprised of a diverse group of students who mostly receive free lunch. Many of the students in my class are former or current English Language Arts Learners. Teaching middle school students reading and writing can at times be difficult especially with the lack of resources. By increasing our classroom library with high interest books, I will be able to attract students to reading and building a reading life. Many of the books in our classroom library are outdated and students are losing interest in reading them. Once students in my class have read one of these new books, they will want to continue to read for pleasure.
