With this project, my students will be able to explore and discover through hands-on learning while working in cooperative learning groups. They will be able to visually see the life cycle of a plant from seed to fruit. We will study plants while starting seedlings for our garden. We will compost with worms to naturally fertilize, while promoting healthy eating. We will use the Worm A Way kit to differentiate between decomposers, consumers, and producers. With the butterfly garden, we will study the life cycle of butterflies. The butterflies will be released to help pollinate the garden, while comparing them to the life cycle of frogs and preying mantis. We will also investigate the flow of energy and how it is transformed from one form of energy to another as well as renewable energy.
