As the school librarian, it is with excitement and pleasure that I get the opportunity to spend time with all students in the school in grades K-6. As the only library media specialist in this small elementary school of 300 it is my goal to inspire children to read with love, to assist them in becoming lifelong learners and researchers, and to allow them to be themselves- to learn, to create, to make mistakes, and to be successful. The library is a perfect place to respond to the needs of all students in some way. We have many books to reach our students. Now I would like to reach many more with a makerspace where students can learn and create without fear of failure. I want them to be in charge of what they learn through Science Technology Engineering Art Math-STEAM- enabling them to explore life learning experiences which will intrigue them as they grow into adulthood and into careers they can be proud of.
