My students are thinkers, dreamers, and creators. They have limitless potential. Unfortunately, what limits them is the resources we have at our school. The high school I teach at is traditionally at the bottom of the district in test performance and overall achievement. It is therefore my charge to give my students the same opportunities more affluent students have to engage with science. I believe true scientists are borne out of experiments and exposure. In my classroom they are a total of 4 beakers, one electronic balance, and two chipped thermometers. By adding new equipment and a functional lab curriculum, these students will have a renewed sense of curiosity, inquiry, and analysis.
