The students in our building are high needs (Title I), multicultural, and there is little room in our budget to purchase new supplies. The students in our Special Education Department are dedicated, hard working, and want to graduate with Regents diplomas. This technology would help them stay up to speed with their mainstream peers by providing each student with a copy of notes. Students' curriculum needs to be individually adapted because many have learning disabilities, fine motor problems, and are visually impaired resulting in their struggle to take down their own notes in class. Unfortunately, there is only one outdated copy machine for our building of over 1500 students, which is often out of service. This results in our special education students not being able to receive their notes and handouts. Our building principals are committed to helping our special needs population succeed. A new copy machine will help improve student achievement and make them college ready.
