My third grade students LOVE mathematics! These 8-9 year old boys and girls come from diverse racial and linguistic backgrounds and a variety socioeconomic groups. What they have in common is a love of learning. Our classroom is a hands-on, energetic learning environment. Our school is a public magnet school for International Education. In addition to a core curriculum, our students are instructed in Spanish or French language class for 1 hour per day. We also focus our studies on a different part of the world each year, Kindergarten through 5th grade. By the end of elementary school each student has a deep understanding of the world's cultures and are on their way to becoming bilingual global citizens.
