Many of my students do not own a single book when they enter my classroom. They see reading as boring and not their first choice of activities. I want a classroom book nook to be the place my students want to go to. They can be taken away in a good book while being comfortable in a Big Beanbag Seat. We'll display books in the Read & Relax Book Station and Classroom Book Carousel. They'll feel invited to learn rather than forced to comply. A lot of my students are in foster care and are behind on their reading level. By having audio books readily available they are encouraged to follow along until they can read it themselves. I'm requesting Fiction/Nonfiction Single Student Read-Alongs and Leveled C-G Read-Alongs for the new Read-Along Listening Center. Instead of just staring at the page or struggling through the text during independent reading time, they can be falling in love with their new favorite book that they are hearing as they read. Also, using the CD player will be a special treat for them.
