I have been blessed with an abundance of donated books from former and current mentors. However, I have struggled to store the books in a way that was cohesive to the student's environment. In year's past, they have been combined in 3 or 4 bins, requiring students to dig extensively through stacks of books. My goal this year is to space out the books so they can more easily find books that suit their interest and reading levels. These book bins will be utilized in our classroom library, and for additional storage for the STEM building toys. The STEM tools with help facilitate independent exploration and develop critical thinking skills. Ideally, the students will be able to use these tools in lieu of traditional morning activities - which often amounts to "busy work" while the teacher does attendance, lunch count, etc.
