My students are an energetic group of 2nd graders who love exploring and learning about their world. We are part of a Title I rural school, the 6th smallest public school in our state. What we lack in student numbers we make up for with enthusiasm for learning. My students devour books, asking for new ones almost every day. Books are truly valued by my students. Most come from low income homes where new books are not readily available. They are so excited to have high-quality books to use at school. These kids are natural born scientists. They spend lots of time outdoors and notice the largest and tiniest wildlife. This class loves to collaborate! (That's teacher speak for they love to talk to each other!) They work so well in small groups or pairs, always encouraging and supporting each other in their learning. They come up with new ideas when working together boosting their learning even more.
