My students attend a Title I school with an 87% free/reduced lunch rate. My students are eager to learn and enjoy learning by doing; however, my school system has limited funds for hands-on projects, especially costly science activities. Currently, the earliest opportunity students have to do a dissection project in our system is in seventh grade. I know my fifth grade students would both enjoy and learn from a dissection project, but we don't have the roughly $400 needed to fund the project.
