My school sits on the east hills of San Jose. From this vantage point they see the innovation heart of Silicon Valley and feel the energy of the start-ups. They have a desire to work as hard and as smart as their parents in the high tech and support industries. They are consumers of the technology their parents help make, but are not yet developers of the next big thing. Students who excel in academics often lack hands-on experience. While the few who know how to build with their hands are adrift in academic doldrums. They come from an area too wealthy for federal aid or corporate attention, but not wealthy enough to support the needs for the 21st century learning. Many are a part of two worlds--America and the home country of their parents. With all their senses they receive the American dream.
