My school has consistently been ranked as a failing institution big focus in my school is on revamping math and english courses, so my school lacks engaging science supplies that would foster a love of Biology for our students. My students are a diverse, bright group from a low-income community in Florida. Though many of my students face challenges outside of school, such as not having a place to go home to, not having food on the table, or having to take care of a son or daughter, they still understand the role education plays in their future success. My students are eager to learn when given the resources. For a lot of students, they are unable to understand why Biology is important to their daily lives. My students' academic ability ranges from a very low functioning reading and math student or one extremely gifted in those areas. I want to inspire my students to become fascinated with Biology, and to be eager to understand how Biology impacts our daily lives.
