My students are learning to read and write as all 6th grade students are, but they are also learning to speak English. Learning a new language isn't the only challenge they face. Sometimes they come to school hungry. Other times they are exhausted. Support from home is usually minimal. The good news is that in spite of all the challenges they face, my students are amazing! They are kind, generous, hard working, fun and hilarious. They work twice as hard as students in other schools, and in other neighborhoods. They deserve the same opportunities and exposures, help me ensure that they receive them!
