I teach a class of three students diagnosed as having severe autism spectrum disorder. We are in a low-income school on the lower east side of Manhattan. My students have varying ranges of functioning, but are all working with the same old classroom materials. My students do not learn like their typically developing peers and need many opportunities to learn a single skill, so materials must be very durable and reusable. My administration does not provide curriculum or learning materials and we are struggling to keep everyone engaged.
