My second grade students are like most typical 7 and 8 year old children who desire to learn and are like sponges. Our school is located in a rural community and has a high population of low income families. If you step into my classroom, you would quickly notice the level of engagement that occurs when technology is present. Unfortunately our school's technology is limited. Laptops are shared among grade levels and desktops are ancient but still used daily. Handheld devices are practically non-existent. Many of my students do not have access to Internet or devices at home; therefore, if I can provide more opportunities for them at school, it will expose them to a wealth of knowledge and information and foster lifelong learners.
