I recently started a girls volleyball team at my school. I have twenty girls who signed up for afterschool on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:30. The girls are in grades five through eight. There aren't many opportunities for extracurricular activities at my school. I believe that a girls volleyball team will foster confidence and provide this school community with an opportunity to be part of positive and nurturing events as opposed to the negative influences pervasive in this community. There are a high number of teenage pregnancies and dropouts in this community and a girls volleyball team can help to deter these negative effects.

About my class
