Someone once said, "Good children's literature appeals not only to the child in the adult, but to the adult in the child." As a first year Emotional Support teacher pursuing my Masters in Education and Reading Specialist Certification, I have found that some of the best lessons in life can be found in picture books. I am currently teaching third and fourth grade students in the Emotional Support setting. The students in my class require additional support in academics, as well as with social skills. I recently wrote a proposal to enhance our classroom library. Thanks to very generous donations, it has been funded. A variety of the books that I had asked for were books with accompanying Cd's. I have written this proposal to gather additional resources I will need to create a listening center where my students can relax and see the world through a new lens.
