Our school is located in a high needs, low income area. The subject is 9th grade environmental science, which is a project oriented curriculum that includes a land use project where students are asked to come up with a plan for building a new school that has the least impact on the environment and benefits the community. The second project concerns energy. The students are asked to identify two alternative energy sources for a given location in the United States. The curriculum contains many learning experiences that prepares the students to be successful in the projects.
