In our rural, Southern California high school, we have a diverse population of students with a variety of learning styles. Students hail from a wide range of family situations and economic backgrounds, resulting in a wide range of support and learning styles. Many students benefit from experiential labs and hands-on learning opportunities. Our school offer ROP classes, work-experience, extracurricular activities, specialized courses in engineering, and laboratory classes which cater to these students. Although the school offers a variety of courses and was newly constructed less than ten years ago, our resources are still limited and students are taught using dry-erase boards and traditional overhead projectors. Classrooms have televisions, but limited access to VCRs or DVD players. Limited technology and increasing class sizes are teaming up to restrict the access students have to hands-on learning opportunities.
