When students read, they experience the œmiracle Anne Lamott refers to in the quote above. I work in a Title 1 school with a small library and limited funds. 90% of the students receive free and reduced lunch. Although most of my students come from homes of low economic status, they have a love for reading. Many of my students do not have access to the books they love to read. For my students, books open up a world of new experiences academically and emotionally. With a great book, my students can travel to other places, meet exciting people and make new friends.
