My students are curious and love to learn. Most of them are second language learners and from a low Socio Economic background. They have none to very limited access to printed materials at home. I read to them every single day and that is the favorite part of our day. My students can't get enough of my reading. I want to instill a passion for learning and reading by exposing them to a wide variety of books which includes fiction and non-fiction. As part of Social Studies Standards for Oregon State, we will be studying about Northwest Indians and the Oregon History. Having a collection of books to read aloud and for my students to read independently, would make the unit study much more interesting. In addition, it will also help increase my students' reading and comprehension comprehension skills.
