I see the future in my classroom everyday! I teach general science to 150 seventh graders every day. My goal as their teacher is to get them interested in how science touches their lives daily. I see future engineers, nurses, doctors, auto mechanics, entrepreneurs, and social workers every day. Many of these fields of study will use the metric system as common practice. I want my students to learn it now and use it before they get out to the "real world". I want to prepare my students for the future measurement standards.
