Our school is located in a community heavily populated with descendants of the Haitian culture. Majority of our school has had a few setbacks with their reading and math proficiency according to the Florida Department of Education FSA Testing. Some of their deficiencies are due to speaking both languages Creole and English which causes a major barriers when it comes to comprehension in both subjects (reading and Math word problems). In the last 2 years I have watched our school letter grade increase from a triple F to 3 points away from being a letter grade B. We are trying our hardest to prepare our students for achievements in life but first we are starting with academics.
