My students attend a preschool with both a general education and special needs population. They want to participate amongst their peers and complete art activities just like their general education peers. We also do not have enough left handed scissors and frequently have to share between classrooms. It becomes difficult to share the minimal left handed scissors amongst 5-6 classrooms with 10-17 students in each classroom. My students love to use their scissors but at times have little strength due to their diagnoses and cannot open and close the scissors on their own. They need the adaptive scissors (spring open scissors) to take away some of the challenge.
