We spend a lot of class time working on reading strategies using leveled text. Students are not allowed to bring the classroom books home. However, it is essential that they practice using the reading strategies with additional text. They need text to apply the strategies and develop their fluency skills. These take home readers will allow them to continue their reading growth at home. They will allow parents to join in the learning with their students as well. Many of our refugee students' parents do not speak English, so they can learn right along with their children. Both students and parents will benefit from these books.
