My school is a Title 1 school with many kids who eat 2 of their 3 meals with us. They love coming to school and often would rather stay in school than go home for the holidays. Many of my students have not traveled outside of our state on vacations and are tickled with the chance to earn the chance to have a special outing to "Subway" for lunch with their teacher. My students don't take things for granted, yet don't know how much there is to see in the world around them. Our school works hard to create students who are academically prepared as well as community minded.
